Great night at workshops last night which we held in Tullamore Library as the beginning of Dyslexia Awareness week. Kids were treated to an amazing inciteful story time by Seanie Morris. Seanie grasped the attention of all the kids from 7 to 17 as he told them and showed them all about how his story “Melvin the friendly bedtime Monster” came into being. He showed them his storyboards and then his finished book. Two of the kids then volunteered to read his story for all the other kids. Seanie gave the kids great encouragement, telling them if they have an ideas for a story they should write it down. All the kids had a great night. A big thank you to Seanie Morris who volunteered his time to the group at very notice. Everyone looks forward to having him back next year.

Tune in tomorrow morning to listen to Will Faulkner interviewing Gearoid about being a parent of a child with dyslexia, a committee member of offaly dyslexia group and who has dyslexia himself.

A quick reminder we have our public information meeting about Dyslexia on Thurs 5th again as part of Dyslexia Awareness Week in fact Thurs is World Dyslexia day so no better day to hold this meeting. If you want to know more about Dyslexia then come along on Thursday to the Tullamore court hotel at 8pm. Our guest speakers Wyn McCormack. Gearoid a parent who is himself dyslexic and Aisling a past pupil who was with us since the beginning of the group 9 years ago and has now just started her second year in college. We also have LOETB who run classes for adults with Dyslexia.
