Workshops In Offaly

Offaly Dyslexia group run workshops (special, out of school-hours sessions) that provide extra tuition and support to people with Dyslexia. The aim of these workshops is to help children and adults with Dyslexia learn “how to learn” in a way that suits them.

Each of the workshops for children last two hours and a small group mentality is used through a relaxed and fun environment. Thanks to the generosity of Laois/Offaly ETB our workshops are held on Monday evenings from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. sharp in Castle Buildings, Tullamore. We currently provide programmes suitable for children attending both national (primary) school and secondary school.

There are on average two 13-week terms in the year and the cost of tuition works out at approximately €390 (€30.00 per workshop) per term. While it is preferable that this be paid at the beginning of each term, we also accept payment in weekly instalments. Please note that payment must be made in full by the end of term, and weeks not attended must still be paid for to cover the cost of tutors.

Before a student is accepted to the workshops they must have been assessed by a psychologist and diagnosed with dyslexia (in certain cases this requirement can be altered, contact the committee for further details). Where possible a copy of the assessment report must be made available to the Programme Co-ordinator at the time of application. Acceptance to the workshops is at the discretion of the Programme Co-ordinator. The Programme Co-ordinator maintains full confidentiality.

Note that due to space constraints, workshop places are restricted, therefore a waiting list is in operation if numbers are exceeded.
