Conference Theme: “Enabling Students at Second Level”

Date: Saturday 9th April 2011.
Venue: Glenroyal Hotel, Maynooth, Co. Kildare.

The AGM will take place from 10.00am to 11.00am and is open to all current members of DAI. Attendance at the AGM only is free.

The Annual Conference will begin at 11.20am and conclude at 4.30pm. This year the conference focuses on dyslexia at second level, widely acknowledged as the most challenging level in the Irish education system for students with dyslexia. The conference will have two strands: there is a programme of talks for parents, and a separate programme of talks for teachers.

The conference will begin with a consideration of how dyslexia impacts on the student. Talks for parents will cover key issues when making the transition to second level, practical strategies for helping at home and advice on stress management. Talks for teachers will focus on support structures within the second level school, and practical strategies for managing dyslexia in the subject-specific classroom. There will also be a session on assistive technology which enables independent learning.

Pre-booking is essential as there are limited places available at the conference.

The detailed Conference programme and a booking form will be sent to all current members in early March with the Spring 2011 newsletter. The conference programe and booking form is also available to download below:
