About Us
In 2008, having recently had children diagnosed with Dyslexia, and having found that there were very few supports available to them, a group of parents from Offaly came together and realised there was a need for a support structure for Dyslexia locally. With the help of initial funding from the EBS Building Society and the Community Foundation of Ireland, they worked to organise and open the first trial workshops in Daingean National School in April 2009.
Since then, the group has gone from strength to strength, has had several new homes and has helped over 150 children.
In conjunction with Laois/Offaly ETB, we have also organised evening classes for adults with dyslexia. For more information on these classes contact Alison McEvoy in Tullamore ETB on (057) 93 49424.
The primary aim of the group is to provide support and information for parents and focused workshops and activities for the children locally, where the children can meet other children who also have dyslexia.
We provide workshops for children and a support line for parents, as well as providing information on Dyslexia to people in the local area. If you are a parent or a teacher who would be interested in helping provide this service locally or just need support for your child, please contact us on (086) 230 9009.
